Drifting Away

This Japanese Cherry Blossom tree reminds me of a weeping willow with blooms, the way it drapes downward. The geese are back and they are in the background drifting away (from my children throwing bark at them!).

Purple Trees

I don't know what else to title this. This is from one of those trees that have tiny blooms in the most purple shade... It doesn't look so purple here!

This is from this tree. I wish I was knew my botany. I think I am on to something here...

My mom called him Hercules ten years ago when he picked up a couch and carried it over his head. Still going strong!

The Third

This is the third black widow we have found in our backyard this year. I think I'll keep track of how many we run into this year. If you live in the south, I bet you will find a few when you look around your yard. And I highly recommend you get a book on spiders and emphasize the bad ones. My youngest was the one who alerted us to 3 he found last year.

My parents puppy is growing up (slowly to them, fast to us!). He is 4 months old now.
(I could not post pics the past few days because Blogger would freeze up... don't know what's up with that.)

Yeller' Flower

I'd love to know what these pretty yellow flowers are. They were growing on a vine next to some daffodils. The reminded me of a cross between pansy's and daffodils. Maybe they could be called daffsy's or even better panodils.

Crocus Time

My crocuses are usually the first flowers to bloom here; they came in second place this year (the daffodils rose first).

Foxy Lady

Really, her name is Foxy. And she is sooooo cute!

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

This is our guitar teacher's dog - Henry. His right ear basically stays in the upright position as if he was listening out for something. It reminds me of how we put our hand behind our ear as we say, "pardon me" or "I can't hear you".

Happy Patty

Since I cannot find a single four leaf clover (and believe me, I did not spend any time looking!), this will have to do for today's picture. It's a green as it gets. These are tiny weedy flowers, the size of my pinky nail. I think I will call them Happy Patty's.
(I could not post this on3/17 because blogger did not act kind to me.)

It has a little 3-D effect.

The baby turned 6 last Friday... :) and :(

From brown - to green - very soon!

Belly Up

I found these last weekend when I flipped over our Little Tykes basketball base. They were curled up in the little nooks on the bottom of the base. Even when the temps dipped to the low teens last month, it wasn't enough to kill them. So I put on the full Armour of God and went to battle with some spider spray.

Pretty In Pink

It was just rained on, and still, so pretty.

What in interesting flower... I'd love to know what type it is.

Long Light

It's the one way tunnel's fault.

My Cove

The view, once we climbed down from here...

High Homestead

I so wish I zoomed out more to get the depth of this view, but look way up there on that hill. There is a small house or building or some sort of structure. Oh, how I would have loved to seen it.

There's no easy way down from here...

The Pacific

Or is it? It reminds me of Ireland or Scotland in a way from movies and pictures I've seen.

Bionic Eyes

These things have never worked for me!

Lone Sailor

This bronze sailor was about eight feet tall...

A little more from the memorial plaque:
"Thousands and thousands of American seafarers have sailed past this place, in peace and war, to defend this country and it's sea frontiers. Many of them never returned. This monument is dedicated to the ordinary sailors and marines who sailed from this place and did their duty."
