Marine Plaque

I love the way the soldiers are climbing up to land...

Navy Plaque

More of the memorial plaque read:
"A ship heading for see passes directly by this spot at the northern end of the Golden Gate. Here the sailor feels the first long roll of the sea, the beginning of the endless horizon that leads to the far Pacific."
I love how you can see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background of this plaque.

Merchant Marine Plaque

This one I believe was of the Merchant Marines. I have a few more to post from that memorial. I really wish I had taken more pictures. I was worried about running out of space on my mega sized memory card (which I did with over 485 full size, large file pictures!).

Coast Guard Plaque

Just off the first exit ramp from the Golden Gate bridge, is a scenic lookout area. There is also a small memorial area dedicated to "The Lone Sailor" with beautifully detailed bronze carved plaques and statues. Here is the beginning part of the memorial plaque that was there:
"This is a memorial to everyone who ever sailed out The Golden Gate in the service of their country - in the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard, the Merchant Marine."

You Take The High Road...

and I'll take the low road...

Just another view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's winter in Georgia still, and it's getting boring around here for pictures, so thought I'd post a few more from my San Fran trip. Afterall, I took 450+ pictures !

Sun Lights

I have always loved how the sun reflects in the waters; how it sparkles, glows, and brightens everything. I guess winter in the south can be pretty after all. Just look around!

Broken Down

I didn't know what to title this, so my Brenna Bear named titled it a "broken down bridge" - which it really is. I liked the way the trail/path was lit by the sun. If I had good software, I could do some fun things with this picture (ahem, hint hint hint hint hint!).

53 years old

Mr. Bill is getting up there! And now he's worth 40Grand. We saw this car last Sunday on our way to the Chattahoochee. It's a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. It is orangey indeed! I played around on Paint Shop Pro and "erased" the background. I giggle over how uneven it is around the wheels.

Last night, I was going through my pictures and opened the folder for 2/14 of 2007. Strikingly, I could see how much my children have changed in 12 months. Ahh, where does the time go? This is my nephew from this time last year...

View From The Heart

This is in San Francisco, looking at the Presidio area. When I took this picture, I could see how the trees were making a heart shape. Wish I had zoomed out just a tad more to complete the shape on the right side. Happy Valentines Day!

Walk On Water

This duck's name is "Eddie Money" - and he is singing this to the female duck next to him:

And if I could walk on water; If I could find some way to prove;
If I could walk on water, would you believe in me?
My love is so true.

(I loved that 80's song! Sorry, I couldn't resist it for this picture.)

Half Way Across

On our little hike at the Chattahoochee River yesterday afternoon, we passed this old bridge. I could not find anything to read on it as I was wondering why there was only half still standing. Notice how blue the water looked. It is usually quite green but it was really reflecting the big beautiful blue sky.

Sunlit Leaves

We went on a small hike at the Chattahoochee River today. The warm glow from the sun on these leaves caught my eye.

6 Snails

Digging around in the backyard today, I came across a family of 6 snails. They are t.i.n.y.!
(sorry to post this late - blogger would not let me upload ...)

Little Bear

I LOVE this dog's face. I think he has a little look of Chewbacca going on!

Rose Buddies

I'm not crazy about this picture because I used a flash. What I do like, though, are the little buds that are popping up around it.

Life and Death

I was going through my hundreds of Yosemite pictures, and this one caught my eye. While hiking in Mariposa Grove, I was struck by the new life sprinkled among the dead trees and debris...

Metal Mouth

Two of my children had braces put on last week. This has forced me to cook lots of soft food!

Winter Wheat

Same thing, different angle... And I don't think this is wheat; some sort of tall grass, maybe?
