Winter Setting

I like the way this turned out with the sun in the background. There was a small cloud passing over the sun which gave it a natural softness.

Hershey Kisses

This is a new family member, so to say. My parents became proud parents (sort of) last Sunday of a new cockapoo puppy. Retirement allows them plenty of time to train and dote on their "baby". We saw Hershey this weekend and adore him. It's challenging to take a crisp picture of a puppy and without the flash on. I'll keep trying...

They were gone in a day. I didn't tell them it had zucchini in it until after their second helping!
UPDATE: At Char's request, I got the recipe here. I followed it step by step (I notoriously eye ball everything and usually don't have the same end result) and it was scrumptious. I sometimes pretend to be healthy, so I made a second batch and substituted Splenda for the sugar and stone ground whole wheat flour and... it turned out almost the same.

Exothermic Except small ones in a fireplace.

We brought Coco outside to check out the snow. She acted as if she was being hazed.
Her face says it all! She wants nothing to do with the snow. Whatsoever!

Even cats...

catch snowflakes on their tongues. ;-)

These angels were on both sides of a driveway, below the ones on the entrance columns from yesterday's post. I counted at least 6 angel statues, although I think there were more (but I didn't want to be seen peeking around the property).

I change my running routes from time to time. The day it snowed, I ran passed this house that has these angels on driveway columns. Actually, they have quite a few angel statues that line the driveway. It looked really peaceful adorned with snow.

Winter Color

Drove around Saturday after it snowed (and as it was melting!)... I saw these berries among the snow on my morning run, and when I went back, the snow was just about gone...

Been having trouble with Blogger loading pictures this evening... Another picture of the snow covered lights. Looks like a big eerie blob.

Glowing Snow

I am so lame. I left some Christmas lights on a few bushes just for the sole purpose of this. I had been cautiously, wishfully hoping for some snow to create a winter like picture. It's not exactly as I had visioned...

For My Bro

I hope this comes your way tonight, so my sweet niece and nephew can have some fun. ;) Thanks for always being the best forecaster. You top them all. :)
(This mini snowman measured just at 5 inches. The mini choc chip for it's eye smeared.)

Snow Plant

When I first saw this growth, I would have never thought it was called a Snow Plant. We saw these while hiking in Mariposa Grove (at Yosemite). We came across a few just sprinkled about here and there among the dead growth. This cluster seemed to be in bloom - ahead of the others we saw. It's not a great picture, but it sure was interesting to see.

Vintage Mailbox

I took a new route on my run the other day and noticed this old mailbox that used to be addressed to an old farm. I drove back to take a picture yesterday. I love how unique it is.

Saying Goodbye

The kids said goodbye to Geico after a fun 6 weeks with him. His remains were burried in the backyard with other former pets.

Miss Photogenic

She truly is one sweet, cute, adorable photogenic cat - except here and here - oh yeah, and here. Wow, 13 posts with Coco in them. My resolution this year will be to take half that many of her. Makes me wonder how desperate I was for a picture! Nah - I love my kitty! Although, on a blustery cold day like today, I was a little desperate for a picture. Here, I opened the back door and stepped on the patio and watched her expressions as she watched the wind whip the trees back and forth.

Smelling Flowers

It's quite challenging finding interesting things to take pictures of in the dead of winter... But I decided to make another round of capturing a picture a day for this year. Here, one of my girls is smelling the pansies I brought inside to protect from tonight's freeze. I like the way the sun illuminated her long lashes.
