Funky Emu

Emu's are some different looking birds, but even more so,
they stink (so badly).

Snapper

I had a little turtle
who lived in a box;
He swam in a puddle;
He climbed on a rock.

He snapped at a mosquito;
He snapped at a flea;
He snapped at a minnow;
And he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito;
He caught the flea;
He caught the minnow;
But he didn't catch me.

By Vachel Lindsay - a poem my Sweet B learned last year in Kindergarten - very appropriate for this picture!

Tall Grass

This picture makes my desire for fall to arrive even sooner... but down here in the south, I'll have to wait a few more months...

Sundown

Another sunset picture... I focused on the setting sun through the windows in a horse trailer. I just love amber sunsets and all their radiance!

A Summer Sunset

It reminded me of an early fall sunset...

I Detest!

Another nasty looking spider among the berries...

Yuck

While in VA, we found a large area loaded with wild black berries. We picked several baskets full and my man's mom made two blackberry pies from them. But among all those berries were all sorts of spiders. Ewww.

Wild Berries

While out on the ATV, my man discovered an abundant amount of wild blackberry shrubs. He cleared a path for us with the tractor and we were able to hike around and pick plenty of blackberries to fill several basket fulls. While picking, we saw plenty of spiders, something that looked most like bear doo-doo, a large snapping turtle, and lots of ticks and bees to top it off. I still have two small thorns in my fingers from that!

A Country Sunset

I was riding with my man on his brother's ATV and took my camera along. I was able to get a few good shots of the sun setting. It was so pretty.

Hanging Out

Gosh, this horse has such a sad expression; I am pretty sure he wasn't since he is well pampered. :)

Buzzzy Bee

We returned this evening after spending the past week in a rural area of Virginia. I will be posting through the end of this month what we saw out in the country. :)

Some brass statues at a local park... they look like they wanted us to come join them in their fun.

Rest In Peace

This poor baby bird fell from a nest at least twenty feet high and landed on the bricks. Some sparrows build a nest every spring in a corner at the top of our covered front stoop. The UPS delivery man rang the doorbell when he leaves packages at our front door and drives on. When I opened the door, I saw this baby bird next to the boxes. I came inside and googled how to save a baby bird and by the time I had the needed info, it passed away. Rest in peace lil feller'.

Just Imagine

A few days ago, some storms blew through and the clouds were so amazing. This was not how it really looked. Could you imagine if so? Yikes! I did take this picture in black and white and then enhanced the contrast and saturation for the dramatic effect. It does make the imagination go above and beyond... Perfect picture for 7-7-07 I think. ;)
Side note: I am going someplace where the internet is as ancient as a dinosaur. I may not be able to post pictures, but I will as soon as return.

Leftovers

These were left over fireworks from last year. Down here in Georgia, fireworks were illegal (even sparklers) until just a few years ago. The pickin's are slim; just puny ones. We are getting much bigger ones soon, from the state above us. OH YEA!

No Fear

The fears have subsided; our little man wanted to hold a sparkler this year. :)

Let Freedom Ring

Tonight was my first time at taking pictures of fireworks. I took about 100 and deleted about 98. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. That's what it's all about. :)

A friendly wave

I'm waving to you! My hand is reflected on a small puddle on the deck. The sun is behind my hand. Sound confusing?!

A Bug's Reflection

I took this picture yesterday afternoon before the storms rolled in. Can you guess what this bug had landed on?

Half Way There

Well I made it half way through the year with my picture a day project. It's been so much fun!

I stood out front of our house tonight for about 15 minutes, watching the sky for lightning off yonder from a big storm that just blew threw our area. Instead, I saw the sky slowly turn pink and the rainbow appear. Just beautiful.
