Lightning Crashes

I was able to get several pictures of lightning off in the distance behind my neighbors house. Who ever says lightning never strikes the same place twice?! It sure looked like it to me!

The sky tonight is electrifying. I brought a chair out on the front stoop and took picture after picture. I got a few good shots of lightning to post. It's electrifying in and of itself to get a shot of lightning!

The Bug

I'm the third one out of the six of us to get some nasty stomach bug. :( I beckoned my oldest to take this picture for me. :)

Fly like and eagle

Ok, here's another guessing game for you all. I stopped to take a picture of this painting yesterday afternoon. Where do you think it is?

Almost Famous

My man and I went to the bookstore Friday night. I had gathered a few books I wanted to look over and headed towards one of those big comfy leather chairs. On my way to the chair, my eye was caught by a book called Stuff On My Cat. It's a website where you can send pictures of your cat with, well, stuff on it. So a year and a half ago we sent a picture of our cat, dressed up as who he is, Frodo the Hobbit. It made the website and the kids were just tickled. So, when I noticed the book, I grabbed it and dashed for the chair. A little over half way through the book, I burst out laughing. There was our cat! And he made the back cover too. I had to buy the book of course...

Look Closely

I am late at getting my picture for today posted. You want to know why?! I ran out of space on my computer for all of my pictures. Yes, I take way too many pictures! So my man just fixed it (for now) and some space is freed up. This of course puts the pressure on (my own doing of course). Now I want to take even better pictures and not so many not so great ones. Which makes me think twice about this one I am posting. If you look close, you will see that spider in the middle. Right as I was taking this picture, it jumped. And I jumped too!

Go with the flow

When my 6 year old saw this, she said "That's cool!" So I think it's worth posting. :) This is some water flowing around a rock in the Chatahoochee River.

Leggo my Eggo

I really don't know what's going on here, but there are two spiders that looked like they were fighting over the egg sac. It's not the sharpest picture. The wind was blowing and the spiders were moving thus the web was swaying and well, it was just difficult to get this one really clear! Nonetheless, it was fun to watch.

Static Steeple

I took this the other night when driving by. It was blurred and I was bored so I used a lot of contrast and saturation enhancement for a different (artsy) look.

When I see clouds like this, I often think of the song "A Storm is Coming" from the LOTR Return of the King Soundtrack, by Howard Shore.

Is this what it means to be flat on your face?!

Pea sized hail last night... This was nothing compared to the larger sized hail other areas near us received. UPDATE: for more pictures of the hail we received here, check out this gallery. Maybe I should re-title this post to Pea Toes.

Fire in the Sky

So, after my man pulled over for me to take a picture of fog rising on the Chattahoochee River Friday night, we saw another good setting for a picture. The sun was setting behind a mega size steeple in our town and the sky was a deep shade of pink. (My girls were loving that!) So we pulled over and I took a few pictures, which didn't turn out to my liking. But there was some lightning a little more to the west of me, so I stood for a minute ready to fire away and got this one. I am now determined to get a better shot this summer of some lightning. Now, if only we could get some rain makers here...
UPDATE: My pic above was used here! (I feel special!)

Smoke on the River

Last night... after storms. What a rush it was to run across a busy road, stand on small edge of a bridge, feeling the breeze from cars driving close by, and taking pictures of smoke rising from a river... I also was able to get my first shot of lightning last night! I'll post that tomorrow...

Our cat Coco... I took this last night and thought she looked so sweet...

I loved the way the grand piano reflected Sweet B's hands when playing.

Four years ago, I planted these daylilies. I had no idea until recently, that these bloom and last for just one day. But I can tell you these are some of the hardiest plants out there. I transplanted them last year after they started blooming and they did just fine. Now that's my kind of plant!

Spider Time

It's spider time around here again. If you read my other blog last summer, you probably remember how many nasty black widow spiders we found. Hopefully, this summer, we won't have as many wicked ones as we did last year. We had a pest control service (that targeted spiders especially) for the past year. Crossing my fingers...

I will give my oldest son all the credit for this picture. He took this last Monday when I ran my first 10K. He was so excited that he captured the start of the race and with the way it turned out, so I am going to post it for him! :)

Sierra Mountains

On the flight home from CA, we flew over the Sierra Nevada mountains. The sky was not as clear as my view on the way out to CA. I took a shot as best as I could through three layers of window glass! I think that may be Owens Valley toward the bottom right. Just another place high on my list I would LOVE to visit.

Sangre de Cristo

I took this from the airplane going out to CA to visit my man. I had an absolutely incredible view of the Sangre de Cristo Upper Range.

Pixar Studios

Pixar Studios is just two miles from where my man worked out in CA. We drove by but there was not much to see. The campus was gated and has a tall private fence with beautiful flowering vines that cover it. There were a few soccer fields from what I could see. Looks like they know how to mix fun with work. But who didn't know that already?! As if!
I took this picture for my youngest since he just loves Lightning McQueen. I told him this is where Lightning was born. His eyes got big and he asked a lot of questions about it. He then said, "That's where he was really small and sucked milk, as in gas." How insightful. I guess he didn't forget who fed him!
