Beehive

Walking around Cook's Meadow, my eye saw this hole in a decaying tree stump. As my man walked closer to it, I noticed two bees around it. I took a quick pic and we got out of there. We think it was a woodpecker's home now used as a beehive.

For me it looks like a hole made from a woodpecker! Unbelievably that bees have done this!
Great picture - thank you!
Nice greetings, Verena

Very cool beehive. The last few days of pictures have been very pretty, Kate! Yosemite is on our destination list! XO

Holy Cow, a beehive? I would have gotten out of there pretty quick like, too!!

Verena, that's the first thought I had too. I was certain it was from a woodpecker, and perhaps it was made by one. But there were quite a few bees around it so maybe they took over and moved in!

Neat picture! You got a lot closer to it than I would have though. ;)
