My cat talks!

Birdy, birdy in the sky,
Birdy, birdy come say hi,
Birdy, birdy fly close by,
Birdy, birdy say goodbye.

Frodo is not hissing here; he hasn't a single mean streak to him whatsoever. He is speaking (rapidly) to the bird outside the window here.

So small

My oldest found this snail outside in a flower bed. The kids were fascinated by it! I should have put a penny next to it so its smallness could be empahsized.

Look out above!

This shark was swimming close to the surface. I am looking up at the shark, and that is the surface of the water from below. Have I totally confused you?!

The massive whale shark in all it's glory - yikes!

there is another beautiful world...

Deep Blue

It was so hard to get a good picture here. I resisted setting my camera on Automatic. I desperately wanted to be creative with my camera. It didn't really happen this time. Last November was our first visit to the aquarium and I used my small digital camera on set it on Auto. The pictures turned out great. This tiem around, the picture above was the only good shot I got of the jellyfish. I could not capture the orange glow to them either. (I know, I put the pressure on myself.) It's a learning process, that's for sure!

Oldest to Youngest

We went to the Georgia Aquarium last week with relatives. I was beyond frustrated with my camera, trying to figure out the best settings for dark lit pictures. The only decent pictures turned out here at the reef area. But even so, there was a lot of light reflected off the glass this time. Oh well... I will take a short break from CA pictures and post a few aquarium shots.
I titled this one oldest to youngest because my 6 year old daughter said "Look Mommy, they are oldest to youngest" when she saw this picture. :)

Sweet Lions

We climbed down as close as we could get without getting wet to see these sea lions. When we would clap our hands, they would look at us. Wonder if that was a warning sound to them?

Kite Surfing

At a distance, we saw these colorful things floating in the air. We drove down to see it more up close and they were kite surfers. It was so fun to watch!

Left Behind

I wanted to help this fish, but as I looked around, there were many more who didn't catch the tide going back out to sea. And it was soooo slippery! Poor little fishy.

Rolling Tide

Another view of what I called "wonderland"...

From the top

We hiked down to this little slice of heaven. I felt like I was in another country down there. See that little tunell in the far left corner of the picture? It's not little! I will post a picture of that next.

Lily of the Lighthouse

There were lily's along the path to the lighthouse as well. Such a unique looking flower.

Purple Flowers

I'd love to know what these were called. They were growing along the path to the lighthouse.

Leaning Lighthouse

No matter where I stood, I could not seem to get the lighthouse to look straight in a picture! So I am going to assume that's just the way it's situated. But doesn't it look like it's leaning just a little? Could be the hilly elevation.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

I love looking and exploring around lighthouses. Unfortunately, this one, Pigeon Point, was closed so we could not walk to the top. But the ocean, greenery and sights around the area were beautiful. I'll post some pictures of the flowers that were there next.

Fields of Yellow

There were yellow flowers like these all along the Pacific Coast Highway. At times, there would be fields and fields of yellow flowers. It was gorgeous with the mountains behind them. At this point, we were getting ready to go visit Pigeon Point lighthouse across the way.

Rock Dog

I showed this picture to my kids and asked them if they could see faces in the rocks. My youngest said he saw a "sleepy dog." Cute!

Mini Aloe

This is some sort of aloe plant, but without the subtle prickly edges that most aloe plants have. What exactly it's called I don't know (Susie, you might know!). It grows all along the cliffs and ground near the coast line.

Straight Down

My man was holding on to my back pockets as I tried to take a picture looking straight down. It's so hard to photograph depth when you are on the edge of something - something very steep.

Who lives here?

A little tunnell in the ground near the coast... As long as it doesn't sliver on it's belly, I'd be ok with whatever it is!

waves among the rocks... ahh, it sounded so beautiful.

Somebody had a lot of fun in the mud, huh?!
(They had help on the way when we asked.)

Duck Duck Goose!

Take a one day break from my CA trip pictures... Some geese have made their home at the pond in front of neighborhood. The kids and I go back and forth calling them ducks or geese. One things for sure though... they sure know how to "ask" for food!

Standing in some wooded area on top of Golden Gate National Rec. Area, watching the fog pour in through the trees was fascinating to me...
