Dirty Feet

The bottom of my cat's paw. (Yes, for ten seconds I was actually bored.)

8 is Gr8

OK, I am now going to have a good cry and go to bed. Another year gone by... Why can't they just stay little?! (This picture is not that clear when blown up - I cropped the heck out of it so I guess that's why.)

John's Creek

Where we live, our town has now become part of a new city called John's Creek. It's a small creek that runs off the Chatahoochee River here in north Atlanta. Anway, I passed a part of it today on a back road and pulled over to take a quick pic. (If you click on the link for John's Creek above, and scroll down, you will see a small fountain in front of that office building in one of the pictures. That's where I took the picture of "Cold Spray"!)

Super Short

From very long for years, to somewhat short this summer, to super short yesterday. She loves it, I love it!

Retro Straps

My dad had an awesome tapestry camera strap that I just loved to look at when I was a child. Those types of straps were very popular in the 70's. When I got my new camera, I immediately did a Google search and found this one at an unbeatable price. And I got it in two days! Can't beat that. Here's Coco modeling it.

Cold Spray

I passed this water fountain in front of an office building yesterday. I took a few pictures and to my dismay, they weren't that great. This one was ok; it made me feel just how cold it was outside and how ice cold that water was. This is the top part of one of the fountain spouts.

Tunnel Vision

My headache was still not gone this morning... so off to Starbucks for an extra kick. There is this tunnel that connects the shopping center to the hotel across the street. It's sort of tucked away and down a small hill, but I see it each time I go to Starbucks. I had my camera with me (take it everywhere these days) and put Honey B to work. That's her at the end of the tunnel waving.

I have a killer headache right now and all I can think about is getting this amazing medicine in me asap. So right after I took a few, I decided to take a picture of what I spell R-E-L-I-E-F. My man could not believe that those wore my fingers holding the pill. He said it looked like the pill was in a dog's snout! Geesh!

Apple Cinnamon

I picked up one of these little candles by Glade at Target last month. Those candles are so good. My whole house smelled like apple cinnamon in half an hour. And what a deal they are!

Winter Color

Even in the dead of winter, there can be so much color around. Take a look around today... :)

Life Support

When my man saw this, he said "It looks like the ipod is on life support." I stuck the ipod in a Mason jar and could not get it to focus at all. So I call this my frustrating picture!

Caramel Macchiato

Did this ever feel good going down my throat today. 5 days of the worst sore throat. I don't have strep, but the nurse did give me some meds today for a sinus infection. So I look forward to the full flavor of my favorite drink, soon!

I had my cake, and ate it too!

The sun is behind a small thin looking cloud here, but the jet trails all around make this look like something is amiss in the atmosphere. It almost looks like an explosion.

What a pose!

This is our cat Coco. I'm sure I'll end up posting a lot of pictures of her and out other cat Frodo since I find it fun to take pictures of them. This was taken last night. Yes, we still have our tree up - it's bare - but still standing. We were lazy this year, but it's coming down tonight. (Or maybe we just wanted to enjoy Christmas a little longer this year!) ;) Anyway, Coco was laying under the tree, and when I got down to take a picture of her, she rolled slightly and put her front feet upward and posed for me. What a cat!

Sittin' Pretty

I took the kids to Petsmart today to look at the animals. It's just two miles up the road from our house. It was one of those days that we had to just get outta the house. Besides, they think of it as a field trip! I had the camera around my neck and boy could I feel the stares. Maybe they thought I was some investigative reporter checking up on the condition of the animals. Ha! I plan to take my camera with me everywhere so I guess I should get used to those suspicious looks. Anyway, this bird was sitting pretty, batting it's eyes the whole time. You know how their eyes are sleepy looking, almost shut. It kept doing that. So I tapped the glass to get its eyes to open. It's not as clear as I'd like it to be. The glass on the cage was a little dusty.

These lights are in our bathroom. I don't like them at all although they do remind me of Broadway. Guess I could just pretend I'm getting ready for a show every day. Anyway, I just thought it'd be neat to try to photograph how bright they are; instead they look dark.

EDIT: I am updating this post. My man thinks the picture above is much better than the one I originally posted below. So I am accepting his advice to add it.

Original Post: I am looking at the water coming out of the shower head here. Look closely at that stray drop to the right. You can see the reflection of the shower head spraying out the water. This was actually taken at 1/200. Now if I could only figure out how to set the camera to 1/4000! Hopefully soon...

This church near us has added on a second addition, including an extra large sized steeple. I was at the stop light in front of the church today and whipped out my camera and took a picture looking up at it. (A man on the other side of the light thought I was taking a picture of him!)

We all piled in my man's truck to go for a quick errand. I am looking up at the hill in our backyard from the front window of his truck.

Self Portrait

It was so rainy today, and I didn't feel like watching football. So, I decided to turn the D80 on myself. Let's just say that was challenging (and I've never deleted so many pictures!).

Dirty Water

This is our 15 month old Goldfish, Nemo. The water is pink because it needs to be changed. Actually, the food I give it makes the water turn after a few weeks. (Yes, I'm going to change it soon!) Oh, and your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Nemo was swimming by one of the sides in the plastic tank, thus why it's shaped funny.

On my way to Costco today, I made a stop at this cemetary to take a picture. It's a very small one (the lot is about an acre or so) and hidden in the middle of an upscale neighborhood. It dates back to the 1800's.

Atlanta Beach

All I can say about this is sometimes a trip the beach in the middle of winter is just necessary. Don't lecture me! It was only for ten minutes.

Tree Angel

This sweet ornament was given to me from my oldest son when he was 5 years old. I loved the way the lights could be seen through the angel.

Stray Cat

This was a stray kitty we found on New Years Day. It was peeking out of our sewer. We kept her inside for the night and then I let it go the next day. I hope she comes back.

Monday, January 1, 2007

Welcome to my "A Picture A Day" blog. I created this blog to challenge myself to see above and beyond with my new Christmas present. So, here's my first photo taken with it. It's our cat Coco doing what she does best. It's a little blurry since I am still trying to figure out this camera. I have a lot to learn but sure would appreciate any positive reinforcement and even some constructive criticism. Thanks!
